Candidates who will qualify the prelim test will be called next for the mains examination. Prelim exam is only qualifying in nature and marks obtained by candidates in prelim will not be counted to prepare the final merit list and this is only for the passing purpose. Candidates will be required to qualify in each of the 3 sections in prelim exam and after this they will be called for the mains examination. The marks obtained by candidates in mains exam will be used finally to prepare the final cutoff and merit list. There is no interview in the examination now and so mains exam is the most important phase.

How to prepare for IBPS clerk prelim exam in 30 days

Candidates who are going to appear in the prelim exam need to understand that there will be 2 phases in the examination, prelim and mains phase. There is no other phases in the selection process. Candidates have almost 1 month for the prelim exam and they can crack the prelim to enter the mains exam. Approx. 12 times the number of vacancy will be called for the mains exam and so the cutoff will be decided by the IBPS according to it. Here is the prelim exam pattern of the prelim clerk

  1. English section for 30 marks
  2. Reasoning section for 35 marks
  3. Quantitative aptitude test for 35 marks

Total marks in the exam will be 100 and total time for the exam will be 1 hour. There will be negative marking in the exam and candidates should be ware of this. For each wrong answer they will be penalized through 0.25 marks and for each correct answer they will get 1 mark. All those who will qualify the prelim exam will be selected for the mains exam later.

Tips to pass IBPS clerk prelim exam

  1. Understand the pattern of the exam

This is the first phase of understanding the exam. We have already discussed the pattern of exam above. Candidates should prepare above 3 sections now and they can leave other sections for now

  1. Time management in the exam

This is very important. Time management is the art and candidates will be required to understand the time management. Allocate time for each of the section as passing in each section is required. If candidate fail in any of the section, they will not be allowed to proceed further. You can allocate time for each section based on your ability and preparation

  1. Get right study material
