How to approach English section for IBPS PO mains 2017-18. IBPS is soon going to release the admit card for the mains phase. A lot of candidates had earlier appeared in large numbers and now the result has been declared. All those candidates who are going to appear in mains examination can now prepare for the English section which is very important in the examination. The time has been divided by the IBPS for each of the sections and all those candidates who are going to appear in the exam should qualify the exam and they should know how to perform well at overall examination. All those candidates who will pass mains exam will be next called for the interview process and after this candidates will be finally selected for the post. Here are some of the details which candidates need to know. English section is one of the main sections in the examination and candidates should work hard and they have to pass the examination. All those who will qualify the examination will be called for next phase. Written test is very important and candidates should work hard to secure minimum marks in each of the sections including that for the English section
How to perform well in English section in IBPS PO
IBPS PO mains exam will be conducted online on computer. The pattern of the exam will be as under:
- English section for 40 marks
- Reasoning section for 50 marks
- Quantitative aptitude for 50 marks
- General awareness for 40 marks
- Computer awareness for 20 marks
Time will be divided for each of the sections. Total time will be 200 and total marks will be 200. All those candidates who are going to appear in the exam should pass the English section and here some of the tips for the exam has been given to help the candidates for the same.
English section will comprise the following type of questions
- Reading Comprehension
- Cloze Test
- Spotting Errors or Sentence Improvement
- Fill in the Blanks or Double Fillers
RC is very important and there will be 2 Passages one for 10 marks and another for probably 8 marks. Total marks will be around 18-20 for this section. Questions will be based on banking and finance related concepts. Candidates should read the passage carefully and while reading the passages they should also focus on the questions which are asked in the examination.
A story based passage with fill ups will be given in the exam. There will be 10 questions from this. Candidates should understand the tone of passage to understand what is being said. Also improve vocabulary to understand the details
Spotting errors are another important type of questions which candidates need to prepare for this section. Candidates should read the sentence carefully. They should understand grammar well to find out the errors. If they are not good enough at this section, they should solve it at the last
There will be questions based on double fillers. There will be 2 fill ups for each question. Candidates should understand the sentence well. If they cannot understand, they should move on to the next question. Try to phase out those options which does not seem appropriate
Para jumbled sentences:
- First go through all the lines and try to understand the gist of the passage.
- Try to look up the independent sentence which mostly forms the first sentence.
- Find out the connecting sentences and try to arrange accordingly.
- Try to attempt this topic in the end, since the sentences are often confusing and the topic takes time.
Candidates should allocate time for each of the sections in the exam and they should start the English section with calm. They should try to read the passages and while reading this try to understand it. Candidates will be required to know that passages are very important and they should not ignore it.
